1st grade fish

First graders have made fish in an ocean or lake! The fish are created using basic shapes including triangles, circles and ovals. Can you pick out the shapes in the fish?
Students do a 2 project unit focusing on scissor skills in the beginning of the year. They practice cutting a variety of shapes, including squares and rectangles to create "Shape Robots." When making fish, students focus on cutting rounded edges by having scissors "jog in place", and rotating the paper with their second hand. They are then allowed to cut "V"s for triangles, and can decorate fish with patterns and designs. Please enjoy our fish!
